You're right, the transaction is ~free. What you're buying is the object and the on-ramp: something real to hand someone, with no exchange, no app and no account on their end. If you just want to move sats, send a transaction. If you want to put bitcoin in someone's hand, that's this.

No. The key is two halves: ours printed and sealed on the card, yours is 12 words your own phone makes and never sends to us. Neither half works alone and we keep no copy. One honest note: the card's address is public, so anyone can watch the balance. Watching isn't spending. And remember: no words = no bitcoin · no backup.
